Club Facilities

Tauwira Ski Club owns a snow sports lodge in Iwakau Village on Mt Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park region. Tongariro was the first park
to be inscribed in the
World Heritage list in 1993.

The mountains at the heart of the park have cultural and religious significance for the Maori people and symbolise the spiritual links between this community and its environment. The park has active and extinct volcanoes, a diverse range of ecosystems and some spectacular landscapes.

The club's facility on Whakapapa ski field is available year round for members to use and provides a wonderful base from which to explore this extraordinary part of New Zealand.

Naturally the winter months see the highest use of the club amongst club members, however this region is a haven from which to explore the inspiring and exhiliarating landscape year round. From the Tongariro Alpine crossing, the 'Bridge to Nowhere', and National Cycle Trails - walking, trekking and mountain biking adventures abound.
